i know this is probably a stupid thing to get annoyed by but I can’t help it-it bugs me!!

my bf of 3 years sometimes acts like i’m the least important person to him when it comes to communicating. he will email all of his friends,family, or business clients (he sells homemade rc airplanes for a hobby) before he’ll email me back and sometimes doesn’t email me back at all. he does this w/the phone too.

example: today he left to go the rc plane flying field (where he usually goes on wed nights) as I was getting ready for work. He told me he might be back before I left but if not, he’d call me. He was still gone when I left so I called him to ask him to switch the laundry over and that I had left dinner for him (he didnt answer-he sometimes won’t if he’s with his friends which annoys me too-we are 29 years old-not in high school). an hour later he still hadn’t called me back so I called him again from my work phone (which shows up blocked on his cell). more below…
he answered-only b/c he didnt know who it was (I could tell by the way he answered). once he realized it was me-he sounded happy to hear from me. I asked him if he got my voicemail and he said he was out to dinner w/some guys from the field and hadn’t checked it yet. not a big deal-but kind of annoying.

we talked for 30 seconds then he wanted to hang up and said he’d call later. it’s 2:09 am and no call yet. I emailed him again just to see how his night went-I know he checked it but didn’t write back

why do guys do this?!! I always try to put him first and make sure I’m attentive when he calls or emails me

am I over-reacting or is this just how guys are?!!
note-we don’t live together yet but I spend most of my time at his house (with my 3 girls from my previous marriage).
