Rocket Launch question!!!?

A model rocket is launched straight upward with an initial speed of 40.0 m/s. It accelerates with a constant upward acceleration of 1.00 m/s2 until its engines stop at an altitude of 170 m.

a) What is the maximum height reached by the rocket?

(b) How long after lift-off does the rocket reach its maximum height?

(c) How long is the rocket in the air?

What Types of Engines Were Previously Used in Newfoundland Trains?

Does any one have any idea what types (diesel, steam etc.) or model #’s/types might have been used in the Newfoundland railway trains when it was operational back in the early 1900′s?

Whats the difference between O and O27 scale model trains?

One of those burning questions that dog me throughout lifes journey.

How can I make Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) at home.?

Contrary to what a lot of people will think I am not using this to make gun powder. I am a model rocket hobbyist and am interested in making sugar rockets. These require potassium nitrate which is getting harder to come by these days plus it’s cheaper this way. I found someone selling info on this but once again I would like to keep the cost of making this as low as possible. Thanks.

Alternative Model Battleship Combat

Alternative Model Battleship Combat

I’ve noticed model warship combat more than a year ago. It looks like a lot of fun, but it’s not practical in my country beacuse of the BB guns. I’m 99 per cent sure that authorities over here would do more than just frown at people running model battleships that fire BBs. So I came up with a system that uses water cannons (or water pistols, your call) and water detectors to make and register hits. After enough targets on the ship are hit, the system will be able to show a “disabled” result – I’m thinking about raising a white flag, or maybe disabling the motor altogether. Thanks a lot to Rob Wood of Western Warship Combat Club for allowing me to use pictures off their website westernwarshipcombat.com .

2-stage homemade model rocket question???

My friend and I built a 2-stage model rocket using estes engines. The C-6-0 is on bottom and the C-6-7 is stacked about one inch above the other. We are relying on the charge from the C-6-0 that normally sets the parachute off to ignite the C-6-7 just above it. Will it work????? any thoughts??

Motion problem!?

A 500g model rocket is resting horizontally at the top edge of a 40m high wall when it is accidentally bumped. The bump pushes it off the edge with a horizontal speed of 0.5m/s and at the same time causes the engine to ignite. When the engine fires, it exerts a constant 20N horizontal thrust away from the wall.

a) How far from the base of the wall does the rocket land?
b) Describe the trajectory of the rocket while it travels to the ground.
